In
the early days of fishing, anglers relied heavily on floats and
sinkers to control the depth of their baits. As sport fishing grew
in popularity, the float's primary purpose shifted from depth control
to strike indication and the sinker evolved from a simple weight
to a dynamic component of underwater lure action. Today, the float
has virtually disappeared from most tackle boxes, while the weight
has morphed into hundreds of different shapes and sizes for thousands
of different applications. From my perspective the loss of the float
is a shame, and I'd love to see it re-introduced to the fishing
scene as a mechanism for controlling depth, lure action, and strike
awareness. In this section, we'll teach you everything you need
to know about the float, and it's sworn enemy the sinker! |
