cherry is best Posted by propbait on March 8, 2009 @ 3:34 am
cherry is the best wood for hard baits, its grain is very fine, when painted it is very smooth.

Red cedar is very good, also. After I turn a lure and sand it on the lathe, sometimes it's so beautiful that I leave much or all of the cedar exposed. Maybe some eyes & flash or color on the belly, but clear polyacrylic as a sealer.
