i am a beginner with all areas of tackle making and need help with starting to make my own lures because the winter is too long to be away from fishing. any help with kits is appreciated. it must be cheap because i have very little money.

I tried to keep my spending to a minimum as well, and have been using a piece of 1" dowel rod and a pocket knife I had to make some lures. I spent a little money on eye bolts at our hardware store, and some hooks and split rings to complete the lures. Actually, I think I spent the most money on the couple of cans of paint I have been using.

I don't see the need to go out and buy a kit for things I can pick up cheap or already have laying around the house. You will need a little sandpaper as well, but I have that laying around from other projects.

I too prefer a dowel rod but I use a grinder with sanding discs to form baits, a belt sander is good too.
a double taper propbait is best the same from center to front or back

Old broomsticks & mop handles. Can't get much cheaper material.
